EUROSINT Forum – Workshop on Best Practices in Strategic Foresight – Communiqué
On the 23 & 24 of November 2017 in Paris, the Eurosint Forum organised a workshop on Strategic Foresight. This workshop was organised in collaboration with the FP7-funded VALCRI project (www.valcri.org), a four-year initiative dedicated to improving the intelligence capabilities of European security and law enforcement professionals.
The goal of this event was to introduce a series of best practices in Strategic Foresight to support intelligence and law enforcement entities in Europe.
20 intelligence professionals and practitioners attended the workshop, stemming from several national, European and International organisations such as the French, Belgian and UK’s MoD, national and European Intelligence services, national customs and police, and NATO. Members of the EUROSINT Forum were also represented with attendees from CEIS, I-Intelligence, and SAIL Labs.
Different speakers presented the methods and tools used in their organisations to perform strategic foresight. Each presentation led to thorough exchanges with the audience and allowed the VALCRI team and the EUROSINT Forum to gather valuable inputs for future activities. Dedicated exercises were also organised to help participants practice new techniques together and learn from each other using realistic scenarios.
VALCRI project partners presented some of the results of their research during parallel hands-on sessions where small groups of participants were able to test the VALCRI system and give their feedback on the tool.
This workshop was organised by the EUROSINT FORUM (www.eurosint.eu), the not-for-profit association dedicated to European cooperation in the field of intelligence and security, in collaboration with the FP7-funded VALCRI project (www.valcri.org).
