... EUROSINT, the European Open Source Intelligence forum, attracted an audience that one rarely sees in the same room in this city: intelligence specialists from national defense and interior ministers; the European Defense Agency; the European Commission; prime ministerial cabinets; the EU Military Staff and Situation Awareness Center; Europol, the pan-EU police network; Interpol; and a scattering of defense companies, nongovernmental organizations and think tanks.

Working Group - "Training" - Zurich - 20-21 September 2007
This event will have two parts. The first day and a half will be dedicated to the Working Group on Best Practices in Open Source Intelligence Training and is intended to accomplish the following:
1. Get the input of OSINT experts from across Europe and further afield on the draft syllabus prepared by working group members.
2. Based on their input, reappraise the syllabus and expand or improve it as necessary (e.g. with regard to OSINT analysis).
3. Continue the discussion launched in July on how to make a European OSINT course a reality.
In a slight change to the original announcement, Friday afternoon will focus on developing a European security taxonomy and other metadata standards. Here too we will be continuing the discussion started at an earlier workshop in July.
Members are welcomed to attend all discussions as per their interests.
The event will be hosted by the International Relations and Security Network (ISN) at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH Zurich). A preliminary agenda will follow shortly together with full details of the venue. Attached is a short list of recommended hotels in Zurich. All are centrally located and a short walk from the main station and the university.
The event will be limited to a maximum of 30 people (not including organizers). As always, priority will be given to full members of the EUROSINT FORUM. The roundtable is open to non-members on a first come first serve basis.
